What a wonderful world

"And I think to myself"...after a week long trip to Virginia to visit friends and family, an 80th birthday celebration, Independence Day 2010, our 5th anniversary, and memories to last a lifetime..."what a wonderful world!"

June 28-July 2 ~ Roanoke, VA
Sarah Grace and I left on our first "girls" trip...out of state.  We left Monday, June 28, 2010 and drove to Roanoke, VA!  We had a great trip...only one stop!  Once in VA, we stayed with Lee and Scott Markham from June 28-July2 (Mon-Fri) then drove to Waynesboro to meet up with Jack and Daisy.  We stayed with Oma and Opa from Jul 2-July 5 (Fri-Mon)...we had a wonderful trip to Virginia...complete with lots of friends, family, and memories!

June 30, 2010 - Wednesday
Sarah Grace and I met for dinner at Fork in the City with some of the wonderful friends from Preston Park Primary School (where I taught while we lived in Roanoke).  It was so fun to see some of the great ladies I worked with and catch up...they hadn't seen Sarah Grace since we moved...over a year ago...they were amazed at how much she'd grown and changed!  With all the excitement we didn't take any pictures...so the narrative will have to do.

Judah, SG, Lee, Anayah, and Tracy enjoy a tea party!
One of my favorites...2 of my favorite women all smiles...while my favorite little girl is all frowns (it was time for a nap!)
After a good nap...it was time for creativity.  Lee got our black paint and playdough and Sarah Grace went to work!

Goodbyes to "Aunt" Lee and "Uncle" Scott, Marley, Gypsy, and Nico...thanks for having us!  We had a fun time...we love you!

HAPPY 4th of JULY 2010
We are very thankful for our freedom and remember all those who are fighting for it!  God bless America!  After church, we gathered family and friends for a yummy 4th of July picnic!

July 6, 2010 - Playdate at Wilmond's house...lots of boy toys to explore as well as a sprinkler!

Uncle Shelton came to visit for a few days...Sarah Grace loves to play with him!  She even showed him how to talk on the phone while shopping!  He played with SG while Mama and Daddy went out for their anniversary date!

HAPPY 5th ANNIVERSARY!
Dr. and Mrs. Coiner - July 9, 2010
We are so thankful to have each other in our lives...we are amazed at how fast these years have flown by.  In 5 years of marriage, we have accomplished so much--we have: moved 3 times, lived in 2 states, graduated medical school, finished 4 years of teaching, got our first dog, had a baby girl, traveled across the country, bought our 1st home, laughed daily, and made lots of friends along the way...but we'll always be each other's best friend!

JUNE ~ J.U.N.E

I wonder what it would be like to live in a world where it was always June?

I really like the month of June. Period.
Sunshine. Birthdays. Beach. Flowers. Anniversaries. New Life. Love.

JUNE
Just what a lovely time this is, the sun is getting warm,
Up and about working hard, the bees begin to swarm.
Now is the start of summer, a time for feeling great,
Every day to play this month, so excited, just can’t wait.

At the beginning of June, our family took at trip to Boone/Banner Elk/Blowing Rock, NC.  We met our dear friends Betsey and Brandon Rodgers at a condo in the development Echota on the Ridge.  It is near all three towns...very centrally located between them each one.  We spent a weekend immersed in God's beauty.  The mountains were so green and lush.  We ate yummy food, swam in the pool, window shopped, enjoyed friendship, and laughed!  It was their first time meeting Sarah Grace...and she loved them! :)

Echota - June 4-6, 2010

Betsey and Brandon brought SG her own camera!

Outside our condo on the deck...beautiful!

Swimming in the heated pool--the mountains are chilly!

Group picture...until we meet again...

On our way home from the mountains...
Sarah Grace is a CUBS fan!

Sarah Grace's 1st CAR WASH!  June 7, 2010
Daddy showed her how to "scrub" - she got right to work!

Cinderella Sarah Grace...she's learning to help out around the house!
She likes to help load/unload the dishwasher, check the mail (at the real mailbox and her toy mailbox), feed Daisy, water the plants, clean up her toys, and cook dinner!  SG is really observant and likes to mimic how Mama and Daddy do things...precious!

Our dear friends Chris and Georgeanna Wiest are having their THIRD baby.  Instead of a traditional baby shower (since they already have one girl and one boy), the have a "Gender Reveal Party" on June 19, 2010.  Georgeanna had the ultrasound tech write BOY or GIRL on a card, seal it in an envelope, and then gave it to her friend...so only the friend knew.  The friend made a cake - - and the inside, the cake, was either BLUE or PINK.  Well we had a wonderful lunch/shower at Olive Garden and then it was cake time!  They cut the cake and...it was blue...IT'S A BOY!
We were so honored to share in their special day!
Christi, Georgeanna (the mommy of baby #3), and Abby (Christi's college roommate)

Caleb, Jack, Sarah Grace, and Georgeanna
Sarah Grace has a little crush on their son Caleb...they were playing "handsies" - instead of "footsies" -- it is a baby thing...we don't understand!

Happy Father's Day to our fathers and grandfathers and all the wonderful father figures in our lives!!!
Oma and Opa (Carolynn and John) came to spend Saturday night (June 19th) with us.  John went to church with us while Carolynn stayed at home to play with SG.  We had Chinese food for lunch and played with SG.  Then they had to get back home shortly after lunch...we didn't even get a picture on Father's Day with Opa John!  Oh well...we were happy to spend time with them.

For dinner we went out to eat on Sunday, June 20, 2010
Aunt Carrie, Gramps, JoePa, Christi, and Sarah Grace

Happy Father's Day to Daddy Jack...he amazes us daily with his kind heart, hardworking attitude, love, generosity, time, service to the Lord, and the fact that he's a true kid at heart...he's just an all around fun Dad and we love him!

Doctor Daddy Jack reading Sarah Grace a bedtime story.  SG had just given Jack his Father's Day gifts!

The start of our vacation...after Jack took Step 3 boards...we went to Wilmington for a week! We're out on the boat...it was beautiful...SO CLEAR!

May 21...Beach day #1 -- Sarah Grace gets ready in the yacht club nursery; she thinks the spray on sunscreen is funny! She experiences her first wave of the season...she LOVED it! Mommy and Daddy enjoyed soaking up some warm rays of sunshine...don't worry SG was very protected; hat and 50SPF! SG found out that walking in the sand is a bit challenging...but she was up for it! We all had a wonderful first trip to the beach of the 2010 summer season!

Mother/Daughter Pedicures - May 22, 2010

May 22 - Beach Day #2 - bikini day...look at that belly! SG seems to have no fear of the ocean (she gets it honest!)- Daddy took SG's "out deep" into the ocean. A wave splashed off of Jack's chest and onto her face...she looked at Jack for guidance...he laughed; so did she!
