Easter...and life!

After celebrating Sarah Grace's first birthday with everyone on Saturday...we enjoyed God's beautiful Easter Sunday on April 4, 2010. We got up early...went to early church...SG and others napped...then we feasted on yummy ham, potatoes, salad, deviled eggs, bread, and birthday cake! :) After lunch we dug into Sarah Grace's Easter basket. Then we went outside to soak up some sun and take in God's glorious creation!

Sarah Grace's FIRST Birthday Party!

We had a little party for Sarah Grace's FIRST birthday on April 3, 2010...many family and close friends gathered to help us celebrate SG's very first year of life!  Everyone gathered at our house on Saturday (4/3/2010) to enjoy pizza, cake, gifts, sunshine, laughter, and fun!  She is such a lucky girl to have so many folks that love and adore her!  Thank you to everyone who made her little birthday party a success...thank you to all who helped us celebrate by thinking of SG on her special day!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY SGC!

We are so blessed to share in our little girl's very first birthday party...it was such a special day for all of us...and we hope she'll be able to look back and know how much she is loved!

Sarah Grace is changing right before our eyes--she's getting sweet little locks of baby curls and taking a few cautious steps and "talking" in a sweet little voice-- she's turning into a little girl.  We've enjoyed SG's baby days, but we have a feeling the baby days are soon going to end...but we are looking forward to toddlerhood...it is so bittersweet.  We are so happy to live life with precious SG smiles and SG laughs every day of our lives!  Praise God for a happy/healthy BABY girl! :)

Sarah Grace's 12 month/1 year check up...

• almost 21 pounds...she's only had a birthday cupcake -- she hasn't eaten her actual birthday cake yet so we're thinking by the end of the weekend she may be closer to 25 lbs! :)
• almost 30 inches long...long & lean
• "developing/growing VERY well" ~ Dr. Prevatte
• squealed with joy as we took off her diaper (naked baby!)
• scored very well on her developmental milestones check
• laughed and smiled at everyone :)
• seemed to enjoy walking and crawling all over the paper covered exam table (she loved the crinkling sound she was making!)
• intrigued by the doctor whispering in her ear (so he could check inside)
• screamed when she got her vaccines (who wouldn't)
• peeling her band-aids off in the car was the cherry on the top!

Two pictures of Sarah Grace being measured at her appointment...sorry they are really blurry.  She seems to like being totally naked on the table...we think she knows she's the center of attention.  The green thing in her hand is her hairbow...she really wanted to be TOTALLY nude!

Thanks for being such a little trooper and a good sport Sarah Grace!  Getting shots is no fun (but the bandaids sure are cool, huh?).  Congratulations on your ONE YEAR check up...we love you!

Happy FIRST birthday to our first born daughter, Sarah Grace!

We have been so blessed...especially this past year!  Sarah Grace is a beautiful, happy, healthy, smiling, funny little girl who has enriched our lives in more ways than we could have imagined. 

Sarah Grace's first year...

  touched the ocean with her toes when she was 6 weeks old

  slept through the night when she was about 7 weeks old (hallelujah!)

  watched her daddy graduate from medical school (she was 2 months old)

  moved from Virginia to North Carolina in June of 2009

  baptized September 2009 in our new home church ~ 5 1/2 months old

  ate lots of yummy "first foods" -- and is continuing to enjoy new foods
• 
  
  traveled across the country (in an airplane) to Seattle, WA with her Mom and Dad when she was 6 months old -- she was a great little traveler
• 
  
  crawled and is beginning to walk

  celebrated her FIRST birthday with family and friends

We've been so blessed to have shared Sarah Grace's very first year of life with her.  She's such a precious baby girl and we are so excited to see what the next year brings!


Sarah Grace loves to...smile...play with Daisy and Daisy's toys...take long walks with Mommy...ride on Daddy's shoulders...read "Goodnight Moon"...eat everything in sight (she seems to enjoy eating everything she's tasted thus far!)...sleep...help load the dishwasher (and by load, we mean she climbs in it!)...swing...be pushed in the cart at the store...look at pictures...splash in the water...pull all her toys out of the toybox...cuddle with her "lovie" and her "dolly"...crawl on Mommy and Daddy's big bed...be tickled...listen to birds chirp and dogs bark...brush her teeth...drink from a sippy cup...fingerpaint...open the blinds beside her crib and look outside (we call her our weather girl!)...laugh...



"Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward." Psalm 127:3
